Sandra lynnIt all started with a Shar Pei named, Aria. She was shipped to me from out of the country and was older than negotiated and severely under socialized, dominant and aggressive. The first time I took her to the vet, it took three of us to hold her down. At the same time I was dealing with Aria, I was diagnosed with cancer. I focused all my energies on building Aria's confidence and teaching her how to play and interact with other dogs. It was two battles that merged into one. Now a cancer survivor, I reflect back on that time period and realize having Aria saved me. She also taught me that instilling an early foundation of mapping and shaping is a crucial step towards a puppy's future success. Currently, I am writing a book on early puppy rearing and training. Look for it soon! |

more about meGrowing up on a farm, I trained a variety of farm animals such as pigs, horses and cattle. It's been a natural progression to dedicate my life's work to helping those with their pets succeed in a balanced relationship. If you select a puppy out of my program, your puppy will be exceptionally well-adjusted to family life. I am a strong believer that early contact will habituate puppies to human beings and make bonding with their future human families easier and faster.
Starting with early neurological stimulation touching paws and ears helps them adjust and not be shy and timid as they mature. As far as senses progress with puppies, smell is first, eyes are second and hearing is last. At 4-5 weeks we start mapping and shaping, making them maneuver around things to get their food, helping them learn the environment and gain confidence to help them to have the ability to control in times of stress and excitement. Look for more information in my upcoming book on puppy rearing and training. |
